What is Waukesha Metal 3?
Food-grade, copper-based Waukesha Metal 3 is the ideal choice for equipment that undergoes frequent cleaning and sterilization. This material is often referred to as “dairy metal” since it doesn’t impart an “off” taste in dairy products, and can withstand the corrosive effects of lactic acid. It also doesn’t require lubrication, so it won’t seize in high-friction environments or in areas that come in contact with stainless steel or Inconel®.

Excellent Corrosion Resistance
Parts made from WM3 offer reliable corrosion resistance in seawater and marine environments where exposure to moisture, salt, and corrosive elements is a concern. Its copper-based formulation helps resist general corrosion in these conditions, making it well-suited for marine equipment and components that require consistent performance in saltwater applications.
Anti-Galling Performance
WM3 prevents material transfer and wear in metal-on-metal applications. It’s safe for use in applications that come in contact with stainless steel, Inconel®, Monel® and chromium-plated components.
High Thermal Conductivity
WM3 offers higher thermal conductivity compared to many other alloys in the Waukesha Metals portfolio, making it a strong choice for applications where efficient heat transfer is critical. Its copper-based composition enables rapid heat dissipation, supporting consistent thermal performance in components such as heat exchangers and other systems where temperature control and reliability are essential.
